Laptop Lunches. Nom.

All right. I have yet to do a Laptop Lunch post! I'd say it's about time. My Laptop Lunchbox is such a wonderful thing. I get made fun of ceaselessly at work for having one. They say I look like a little kid. But I just take that with a grain of salt. My Laptop Lunchbox is sexy.

Mmkay. Here' we've got a nice salad with hemp seeds on top, leftover tofu scramble & Smart Bacon, some hummus & flatbread, half a mint brownie, & almonds & dried cherries by the silverware. I believe my dressing is of the maple-dijon variety. Yum!

This would be Vegan YumYum's DELECTABLE Cappellini in Fresh Tomato Cream Sauce, hummus w/ flatbread on the side, a Fuji apple, Newman O's & dried cherries.

Raw veggies, dried cherries, some honeydew, ketchup & Tofutti Better Than Sour Cream for my roasted 'tatoes, Newman O's.

Hannah's Cold Sesame Noodles, cherries, leftover mujadara from local Aladdin's Eatery (BEST!), Newman O's.

Chips & salsa, spaghetti squash "noodles" w/ EB, sprouts, salt & pepper, and some canned peas.

Vegan Cheezsteaks...!

Holy crap. ZOMG. Christ on a cracker.

You *have to* get to Now That's Class on a Tuesday night (after 9) because they will serve you the BEST most greasy, creamy, cheezy, delicious vegan cheezsteak sammich. And their vegan mac & cheese is to die for, as well. I took a bite and then couldn't move. My vegan friend Sarah didn't know whether I was going to spit it back out or climax. These noms reminded me of when I was a freshman in college & my roomies & I would go to Mr. Hero and get big greasy sammiches. It was SO GOOD! Go get some next Tuesday! Here's their Myspace.

Unfortunately the bar was too dark to take camera phone pics & if I'd have taken a pic on my actual camera, I still wouldn't be able to post it here. So here's their menu!

They also offer a $5 tall vegan White Russian on Tuesday nights. Here are their Mexican specials!

They've also got little vegan "thin mint" cookie sammiches which are pretty tasty. And great beer specials! This place is a great spot if you're a skateboarding punk rocker, too... which I am definitely not. But the scene was a nice change of pace!

Get your cheezsteak on!!

OMFG. I met Ingrid Newkirk.

OMFG indeed. I have had long periods of computerlessness recently. At first my laptop wouldn't boot up... then we thought it had a virus... then the campus PC repair people told me I need a new hard drive... ugh. So I'm back, semi-permanently. I say semi- because my computer refused to boot up the other day. I just don't have the patience for it, anymore!

Oh, and I've misplaced my USB camera cord. So bare with me & my camera-phone pics. They're terrible, I know. I hope to locate/replace it soon so i can show you what I've been nom-ing. In the meantime, here's me and Ingrid Newkirk!!!!!!!!!!

Some friends & I went to an event held by the Vegeterian Club of Canton. They served us a nice salad, Indian meal of chana masala, curried cauliflower & potatoes (don't remember the name for the dish), flatbread, steamed veggies, & a fruit parfait. It was quite tasty! Afterwards we heard Ingrid Newkirk, the President and co-founder of PETA, speak. She is actually quite moving and has some great stories! One of them included a time when she was arrested @ a protest & the kitchen workers in the jail didn't know what to feed her and all the vegan folks arrested with her. So they took her back into the kitchen & asked her a bunch of questions. During this tour they presented some grapes to her and said "Well, we know you can't eat grapes b/c they're the blood of Christ" to which she responded, after a harrowing and exhausting day, "... Right" and moved on.

It was truly an honor shaking the hand of one of the most well-known and accomplished animal rights activists in the country. If anyone ever has the chance to hear her speak - do it! She'll make you laugh, make you cry, make you feel such elation from being a part of such an important movement.
