Akron Bake Sale for Japan

Happy Spring, all! Isn't it refreshing to see some green popping up and hear some birds returning to roost? It's been in the 50's and even hit the 60's this week, although I hear we're gonna get some snow later in the week. Nevertheless - sunny days are ahead!

This week I was contacted by a fellow, local vegan who asked me to blog about a very special event: The Akron Vegan Bake Sale for Japan. Much like the successful bake sale for Haiti last year (which raised $1,647!!), this event will be held at the famed VegiTerranean vegan establishment downtown.

It will take place on Saturday, April 2nd from 11am-4pm. There's a list of promised goodies on the site from all sorts of local businesses, bakeries, and compassionate cooks, all of which make my sweet tooth yearn: pb chocolate rice krispie treats, passion fruit cheesecake, truffles - hello?!

The sale will benefit Direct Relief International and The Japan Earthquake Animal Rescue and Support Collaboration. The latter is an effort put into place by three no-kill shelters as well as numerous volunteers who transport, medically treat, and rehome animals in Japan affected by this unfortunate natural disaster.

So, if you live in NE Ohio, please come by The VegiTerranean on Saturday, April 2nd from 11am-4pm and grab some goodies to support a wonderful and noble cause.
